Morpeth Sunday League round-up
In the first leg of the Lewin Cup semi-final Bedlington Barrington Arms ran out 5-2 winners against Ashington RAOB thanks to a clinical hat-trick from frontman Dylan Williamson, a powerful header from striker Chris Dobey and a good strike from David Scott.
The Ashington replies were scored by Adam Ryder and Craig Robinson.
In the day’s other semi-final, Amble Tavern and The Wharton Arms battled to a 1-1 draw.
Amble’s goal was scored by Brad Wake and The Wharton’s goal was scored by Josie Bolam.
ES Johnson Challenge Cup
In the first round of the ES Johnson Challenge Cup Stobswood won 5-0 against Morpeth Riverside Lodge with goals from Stuart Oman (two) Robert Baker, Mark Sinclair and Johnny Spears.
Stobswood will now face The Elephant in the next round on January 19.
In the first leg of the Reveley Cup semi-final, HMP Northumberland defeated The Elephant FC 4-1. HMP led 1-0 at half-time thanks to Lee Hammond and it could’ve been more had The Elephant goalkeeper Sean Hudson not been in such good form.
HMP doubled their lead through Paul Cochran but The Elephant managed to pull a goal back through Craig Murray.
However, HMP managed to win the first leg with another strike from Lee Hammond and an effort from David Carr.
In Division Two, North End Trap sit nine points clear at the top after a convincing 10-0 win against Ashington Conchie.
The North End goalscorers were as follows: Kev Bell (four) Jack Small (two) Josh Baston, Ian Turnbull, Marc Nixon and David Mavin.
In the Division’s only other game Amble Blue Bell edged out Alnmouth Argyle 2-1 with two goals from Daniel Dewson, the Alnmouth reply was scored by John Barlow Junior.
