All’s fair in late friendly

Cullercoats FC U12 1 FC Amble U12 1

U12s friendly match

With a fixture-free weekend, Amble travelled to Cullercoats to try to keep their good run of form going in a friendly match.

Amble took the lead when the home keeper went in bravely at the feet of M Kerr to stop the forward adding to his season’s tally, only to see the ball drop to T Pirie who steadied himself before striking the ball home from 12 yards.

Amble maintained their lead and went into the break in control and leading.

However, Amble struggled to keep possession in the second period and Cullercoats were well on top.

Mainly due to some good goalkeeping from J Belisle, Amble held on until the 50th minute before being pegged back. R Paton made two blocks on the edge of his area before the striker managed to loft the ball into the net with a neat finish when the ball had broken loose for a third time.

The home side looked the most likely to go for victory, but with minutes remaining Amble created two good breaks from E Bell and M Kerr, but were unable to convert these.

A draw was a fair result and the game was played in a good spirit. Many thanks to Rob Peach and his team for giving Amble the game at short notice. Spurreli man-of-the-match: Drew Tailford.
