First-class Ronnie goes one better

Ronnie Givens won the Willcox Trophy at Alnwick Bowling Club, going one better than the previous week when he lost in another final.

He won the two-wood championship, beating George Batey 14-11 in an 18-ends match. Match official Michael Grant described the bowling as first-class.

The TE Hall Sunday triples were won by Dorothy Topping, Gordon Smith and Ray Topping with George Stokoe, Lynn Cook and Lillian Stokoe runners-up.

The Friday triples winner was Yvonne Turner with Rob Thompson and Dorothy Topping runners-up.

Alnwick have retained their place in the Northumberland Division A Clegg Cup League, but will be demoted from the Nines League.
