TICKETS are still available for a high-class showcase of boxing which is sure to pack a punch.
North Northumberland Amateur Boxing Club presents its popular festive fight night tonight.
The annual spectacle, which always proves a hit with fans of the sport, is being held at Alnwick’s Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre and will feature some of the best talent from Northumberland, Scotland and the North East.
Michael Dixon, Ashington’s former area heavyweight champion, is set to go toe-to-toe with Scottish heavyweight champion Gareth Walker, while Newbiggin’s Lewis Scott is due to face Scottish champion and international boxer Tommy Philburn.
A string of boxers from the host club, based in Hadston, will appear in the ring, and local boxers scheduled to fight on the night include talented teenager Cyrus Pattinson.
The guests of honour are former British, Commonwealth and European champion Micky Hunter as well as ex-Sunderland footballer Gordon Armstrong.
Tickets are £12 and are available from the sports centre on the night.
Doors open at 7pm with fighting due to start at 8pm.
