An Alnwick boxer who is gearing up to make his first professional fight expects to find out who he will face in the next couple of days.

Kevin Elliott is set to make his pro bow at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light at the renowned Summer Rumble on Sunday, July 5.

The 29-year-old is relishing the contest and can’t wait to step foot in the ring on Wearside.

Elliott, who boxes out of Ashington’s Oasis Professional Boxing Gym, said: “I am fighting fit and raring to go.

“Preparations are going fantastically well. I have been up and down the country sparring and it couldn’t have gone any better.”

Elliott has moved away from mixed martial arts to concentrate on life as a pro boxer.

He told the Gazette: “Turning professional has come at the right time for me and I am really excited about the fight.”

The Summer Rumble has been dubbed the North East’s premier boxing event and boxers on the card will include Sunderland favourites Glenn Foot and Jonson McClumpha, as well as brothers, Martin and Tommy Ward, and many more rising stars.
