Hadston’s Dan Mackay has made a solid start to his motorbike season.
The first round of the Knockhill Motor Sports Club Championship was held over the weekend of April 26 and 27. A decent weekend saw Mackay come away sitting joint sixth in the championship. His best finish over the course of five races was fifth.
In race three, he managed to work his way through the field, from 20th on the grid – having had to retire from the previous race with a technical fault – to come eighth.
One of the pleasing things over the course of the weekend was that, having made some changes to the suspension, Mackay was able to knock nearly two seconds off his total race time.
It is a huge achievement given that the team/rider have not been able to get out on the bike since July last year due to lack of sponsorship.
Solid top-ten finishes had been the team’s target for the weekend considering the lack of track time and the level of machinery the team were up against.
The next outing for the team will once again be with the Knockhill Motor Sports Club on June 21 and 22.
The team is now looking to upgrade the bike, but is looking for sponsorship to enable them to do so.
