A good number of Alnwick Harriers took part in the latest Grand Prix event of the 2016 season, the very fast, very flat and very popular Blyth Valley 10k on Sunday, April 3.

As always with this race there were a lot of great runs, personal bests and an age category win for Alnwick.

First Harrier to finish was Dan Leng in 23rd overall, completing in 35.58.

Next home and third in the male 50 category was Phil Hemsley, ahead of Dominic Harris, who smashed his previous best over the 10k distance and knocked over four minutes off his time in the same race last year.

Jordan Rogerson dipped under 40 minutes, whilst Dave Hindmarsh ran a good race, Shaun Land looked impressive and Dave Bartrum scored a 10k best.

For the ladies, Diana Weightman ran a brilliant race and won the female 45 category, a great achievement in such a big field. She crossed the line in 45.43 and was first female Harrier home. Alex Reed also ran well, as did Maureen Bartrum.
