Boxer Cyrus Pattinson had the perfect preparation for a big bout in his home town tonight by recording a convincing victory last weekend.
The 19-year-old from Alnwick defeated Tom Hill on Saturday with a unanimous decision.
It was the perfect tonic for the teenager, who is fighting this evening at North Northumberland Amateur Boxing Club’s show in the town’s Willow Sports and Leisure Centre.
Pattinson, who boxes out of Birtley ABC, was delighted with the triumph against the Redcar fighter, who was boxing at his home show.
Pattinson said: “He is a good boxer and he was in the championships with me last year, although I never faced him.
“I only took the fight on the Friday because his opponent pulled out, so it was on short notice.
“It was his home show, so I was boxing in his own back-yard.
“He was taller than me so I cut the ring off and wore him down with body shots and I nearly stopped him in the third round.”
Pattinson is one of a number of fighters who will take to the ring at the fight night in Alnwick this evening.
The showcase will feature a select team from Scotland as well as boxers from home club North Northumberland ABC.
High-profile guests of honour, including Billy Hardy, are due to attend.
Doors open at 7pm, with boxing starting at 8pm. A bar with be available.
Tickets are £12 and are available from the sports centre or the club in advance, or on the door.
