The rest of the players were from the Alnwick and District Cricket League and Wooler CC.

There was some good cricket played on the day.

The Chairman’s XI secured a 28-run win.

Batting first, the eventual winners were 168 all out.

Some big hitting from Brian Simmons ensured he was the Chairman’s top scorer with 33.

John Douglas (4-15) and Bob Matthewson (5-30) were on form with the ball for Wooler.

Matthewson was also his side’s star man with the bat, scoring 47 before being trapped lbw.

His knock was not enough to stop his side falling to defeat, with Wooler closing on 140-8.

Kevin Thompson (2-9) and Brian Thompson (2-14) were the Chairman’s leading wicket-takers on the day.

The umpires were Arnie Gilholm and Ray Wood.
