WEEK three of the Surridge Indoor Cricket League saw Chatton record their first victory with a win over Rothbury while Alnwick comprehensively beat Ulgham.
A hat-trick from Alnwick’s Daniel Graham epitomised his fine bowling display as Ulgham were restricted to 74 from their allotted overs.
Graham’s efforts with the ball followed Alnwick’s earlier good work with the bat as they posted a very competitive 164. Opening batsmen Chris Woods and Andrew Armin had helped Alnwick score 47 runs from the first two overs alone.
Ulgham’s Peter Donkin took a brilliant catch in the field.
Max Renwick had a good day at the office as he helped his Chatton side to a first league win.
Renwick took two victims in his first over and Rothbury lost wickets at regular intervals.
But Rothbury’s Charlie Aviston helped stop the rot as he shone with the bat. His efforts, as well as the Coquetdale side’s final batting pair amassing 45 runs in the last three overs, helped Rothbury reach 100 runs from their allocated overs.
Three wickets in an over from both Chris Myers and Peter Aviston gave Rothbury hope with the ball, but Renwick came to the crease and inspired a Chatton fight-back as they won with a total of 109 runs.
The league is played at Alnwick’s Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre on Wednesday nights.
Last night, Warkworth played Rothbury and Alnwick faced Alnmouth.
On Wednesday, Chatton take on Alnmouth at 7pm before Warkworth play Ulgham at 8pm.
