Rothbury Bowling Club held its annual presentation dinner at the Three Wheatheads, Thropton, on Friday, October 25.

It was attended by 38 members and guests and, after a very pleasant meal, the president David Bolton, assisted by the match secretary Chris Cairns, presented the trophies to the winners and runners-up.

The winners of the competitions were:

Ladies’ Champion – Diana Platt; Men’s Champion – Chris Cairns; Two-bowl singles champion (Logan Cup) – David Bolton; Three-bowl singles champion (Wanless Rose Bowl) – Alistair Oliver; Marshall Cup (Handicap) – Mark Heron; Harry Scott Cup (Handicap) – George Heron; Four bowl pairs – Mark Heron/Ray Websel.

The club overall had a fairly good season, finishing runners-up in the North Northumberland League and just missing promotion by one spot to the Northumberland County Bowling Association Clegg Division One.

They also finished runners-up in the NCBA Jubilee Cup, having reached the final for the first time.

That trophy was presented on the night to Rob Donkin, Chris Cairns, Bill Butters and Graham Donkin.

President David Bolton congratulated all who had taken part throughout the season and especially the ladies for their hard work.

He also thanked the staff of the Three Wheatheads for the excellent meal and service. A good night was had by all.
