Back on track in city Parkrun

After missing a couple of races due to illness, Dave Kirkland bounced back in the Newcastle Parkrun on Saturday by winning the 5k on the Town Moor by over 20 seconds.

Dave clocked 16.30, just nine seconds off his Parkrun best.

Meanwhile, up the coast at Whitley Bay, Danny Richardson was a good eighth overall and, down in Northampton, Mark Jefferies scored a 5k pb.

Results: Newcastle: 1-Dave Kirkland 16.30; 109-Phil Baston 21.51; 158-Charlotte Baston 23.17.

Whitley Bay: 8-Danny Richardson 18.36; 69-Cris Atwell 22.39; 97-Phil Lee 24.24.

Northampton: 9-Mark Jefferies 19.48.

Over in the Lake District, there was plenty of action with Dave Coates taking part in back-to-back races, the 15k Helvellyn Trail Race on Saturday and the 14k Ullswater Trail Race on Sunday. In Sunday’s event Adam Spiller and Stuart Morris also took part.

Results: Helvellyn 15k (shortened to 10k due to extreme weather): 251-Dave Coates 53.45.

Ullswater 14k: 10-Adam Spiller 1.06.44; 40-Stuart Morris 1.15.20; 94-Dave Coates 1.31.41.

Also in Cumbria, Gay and Richard Eastoe took part in the Derwentwater 10 at Keswick, shaving a few seconds off last years times in the same race.

Results: 278-Gay Eastoe 1.32.23; 279-Richard Eastoe 1.32.25.

Finally, Junior star Dan Leng was in action in the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k at Scarborough on Sunday. Dan was 21st of more than 1,200 runners and was first in the male 17 category in 37.25.
