ALNWICK CASTLE

Competition Standard: The windy conditions took their toll at Swansfield last Sunday and this was reflected in the competition standard scratch being a two over par 72. Maybe the direction of the strengthening breeze suited the left handers best as the winner with the only sub-par round was Alan Craigs with a net 69 closely followed by Eddy Jury whose sheltering between shots in his buggy clearly helped him to a fabulous even par 70. One shot back in third place was Wayne Belisle on 71 who also carded the best gross on the day of 74. A good payout in the two’s with three players namely Kenny Boyd, Barry Farrar and Brian Brooks sharing the spoils. With only two rounds remaining the current leader boards in the Sponsors and Pacitti Cups are shown below and watch this space for the up to date Eclectics next week.

WOOLER

Lady Captain’s Charity Open: Wooler Golf Club Lady Captain’s Charity Open on Saturday raised over £1,200 to be divided equally between The British Heart Foundation and The Stroke Association. We had a wonderful entry despite the howling gales which caused lots of problems and I suspect many lost balls. Thank you to everybody who entered the open, who baked cakes, who donated items and four balls for our silent auction and for Eileen, Vivien and Bethany who helped out throughout the whole of the day.
