Alnwick Castle

Winter League (Week Six): Saw new names at the top of the leaderboard. The countback rule was needed to separate the top three places with all three scoring a very creditable 40pts. One of the club’s young rising stars Sam Thompson edged out the club stalwarts of Ray Baston and Guy Ridley into second and third respectively. In fourth place was Michael Friar who had 38pts. Guy had the best gross score on the day, an almost faultless round in which he carded two birdies at the first and ninth, no less than 15 pars and a single bogie on the par-three 15th. A moderate payout in the twos club shared between five players, Tim Pearson, Dan Harrison, Wayne Belisle, Jon Gaines and Peter Lee. No change in the Zecca Accumulator (best three agg nett scores). Peter Lewis (119) still holds a one-shot lead over Chris Jobson (118), with Dan Harrison and Kevin Murphy (116) in equal third.

The Easyway Order of Merit: Now has joint leaders with Kevin Murphy and Peter Lewis 33pts and Wayne Belisle in third 26.

Winter League: 1 S Thompson 40pts; 2 R Baston 40; 3 G Ridley 40.
