Alnmouth and Alnwick both feature
Autumn Stableford (Five clubs): 1 J Southward 39pts; 2 D Glyde 38; 3 S Richmond 37; 4 B Wilson 37; 5 T Stamp 37; 6 R Wilson 37.
Winter League: On rather a blustery, chilly but nevertheless dry morning just one short of 50 golfers contested week two of the increasingly popular winter league at Swansfield. Bearing in mind that the wind played a big part in lowering the scores on the day, Ray Holding returned a very creditable score of 38pts with which he claimed first place and maximum points in order of merit, however, the ‘Axe’ fell and his handicap is reduced by three to 21. Wayne Belisle carded 37 points in second place which included 11 pars and two birdies and he was followed by three players all on 36 points who were in order, separated on countback, Malcolm Peart, Ian Bell and Peter Lewis. A nice little bonus for the two’s club winners as only two were recorded by Peter Lewis at the 15th and Gordon Johnson at the 17th. It is very early days but in the Zecca net accumulator Cyril Jobson’s is one point ahead of Neil Armstrong who is in turn two in front of Ian Bell and Malcolm Peart equally placed third. Cyril also heads the Easyway Order of Merit with Ray Holding promoted into second by virtue of his win in week two.
Winter League (Week two): 1 R Holding 38pts; 2 W Belisle 37; 3 M Peart 36. Members who haven’t got their presentation night tickets yet are urged to do so as soon as possible and by Monday, November 11, at the latest so that catering numbers can be finalised for the event itself on Saturday, November 16.
