Around the golf clubs

Alnmouth (Foxton) welcomed back the British Inclusive Golf Society, the drive behind Disability Golf in the UK, for their annual match and visit last week. Golfers from around the country converged on Foxton for what was a very competitive but friendly match which was enjoyed by all the players despite some adverse weather conditions. Pictured is John Nichol, Alnmouth Captain, with the two teams preparing for the match on the first tee.

The Race to Turkey: Is now on at the Old Links this autumn and the first two competitions showed how difficult scoring is when the wind blows. In TT One, the score of nett 70 by Richard Davison was enough to take the 10 points as the cool northerly took its toll. The next round, TT Two, was slightly easier as the wind was from the south and it was Shola Glass with 38 points who edged out Daniel Cooke and Eric the Red by a point to claim the 10-pointer. Next week is the bogey round with a few starting slots left. Warkworth Golf Club has once again put out the famous Treasurer’s Special on the memorable winter layout with four months’ golf only £100 from November 1 until February 28. Real tee boxes, superb greens and no wellies required means Christmas really can come early. Ring the club on 01665 710596 or pop in at the weekends to join.
