Ken Thompson Trophy: Mark Kilmister, currently playing off plus two handicap, shot a superb gross 66 for 68nett to win the Ken Thompson Trophy on Saturday. Other leading scorers were D Carmichael, 83-13-70; D Carr, 84-14-70; I Clough, 82-12-70; J Bailey, 84-5-71; J Young 84-13-71.

Bill Robinson Memorial Trophy (a three-man Texas Scramble): From the early starters, Peter Lewis, Michael Bell and Lawrie Stewart set the pace with a fine score of 63.3, only to be overtaken later on in the morning by Bob Chalmers, Ray Holding and Kevin Murphy on 61.6. However one of only two teams starting from the lunchtime slot, Dan Harrison, Tom Miller and Brian Hunt, stormed through to post a winning score. They carded a six under par gross of 64 despite a bogey five down the last which gave them a net score of 60.7 and victory on the day.

Warkworth

JR Forster Cup: A biting cold wind at the Old Links in the morning slot proved to be the undoing of all but Chris Mallaburn as he blew away the field with 44 points to take the J.R Forster Cup. He finished a full six points clear of Ian Common who in turn was two ahead of a trio on 36 points. These were Davey Parker, Tony Lewis and a welcome first placing for John Barclay. Six twos were also recorded.

Autumn Greensomes: 1 A Jones & J Robertson, 96–25.5=70.5; 2 L Wraith & V Clark, 110–25=85 (on back nine): 3 C Douglas & G Turnbull, 104–19=85.

Autumn Trophy: Saturday saw the final summer competition for the gents and it was Chris Wilkinson who romped to victory in the Autumn Trophy on 86-21-65 ahead of Terry Carr on 89-19-70 and Gordon Lamb on 95-24-71.

Coming up: This Sunday is the rescheduled Sponsors’ Day and next weekend will now see the Captain’s Wake on Saturday, October 6, rather than Sunday, October 7. Please meet in the clubhouse at noon for a 9-hole Texas scramble. This will be followed by the junior presentations at approximately 4pm.

Presentation Night: See the noticeboard for details of Presentation Night on Saturday, November 3, and would all last year’s winners return the trophies to Stuart and Pam.
