Alnwick Sea Angling Club

THE last match of the Winter League was fished on Sunday and with flat sea conditions there was only one angler who managed to weigh in.

Darren Ferrow won the match with one flounder for 14½oz, which was also the heaviest fish.

It has been a season of mixed results with poor sea conditions for most of the Sunday matches. This has resulted in fewer catches of cod than normal.

For those who have caught, the quality of the cod has been good with a lot of fish in the 7lb range.

Anthony Gibbison has had another consistent season and has retained the Winter League title, catching 30 fish for a total weight of 92lb 3oz; runner-up was Willie Morton with 14 fish for 52lb ½oz; third was Kevin Donnelly with 15 fish for 50lb 13oz.

Final league standings: Anthony Gibbison, 30 fish, 92lb 3oz; William Morton, 14, 52lb ½oz; Kevin Donnelly, 15, 50lb 13oz; Steve Scott, 15, 49lb 1½oz; Ian Hall, 13, 42lb 14½oz; Mickey Buck, eight, 31lb 12½oz; John Stephenson, 11, 22lb 6½oz; Paul Buddles, eight, 19lb 8oz; Steve Ayling, 22, 18lb 3oz; Darren Ferrow, 21, 17lb 5oz; Dave Moss, 10, 11lb 5½oz; Steve McKee, six, 9lb 3oz; Antony Abbott, four, 6lb 8½oz; Andrew Stanton, one, 4lb 12oz; Scott Howie, one, 13½oz.
