ONCE again, calm seas for most of the week would mean less chance of catching any cod.

Kevin Donnelly did well to win the match with one codling and a coal fish for 3lb 2oz, this included the heaviest fish a cod of 1lb 11oz.

Other anglers weighing in and full match results were: Kevin Donnelly, one cod, one coal fish, 3lb 2oz; Mick McMenamin, four flounders, 2lb 3oz; Ian Hall, one cod, 1lb 3oz; Anthony Gibbison, one flounder, 13oz.

Ian Hall had a really great result on Sunday when fishing the big Barry Tweddle Memorial Open Competition. He managed to catch a cod of 5lb 1oz to beat more than 400 other anglers and win the heaviest fish trophy, which also saw him collect a prize of £500.

The next match is on Sunday, registration is at AFS Country Store, Alnwick, between 3.30pm and 4pm, fishing between 4.30pm and 9.30pm.
