Alnwick Sea Angling Club

WITH a calm sea on Sunday fish were going to be harder to locate and catch.

Kevin Donnelly continued his recent good form and won the match with two codling and a coalfish for 6lb 14½oz a good catch for the conditions. Kevin also had the heaviest fish a cod of 3lb 5oz, second was Anthony Gibbison with two cod for 5lb 5oz and third was Ian Hall with two cod for 3lb 9½oz.

Other anglers weighing in and full match results were Kevin Donnelly, two cod, one coal fish, 6lb 14½oz; Anthony Gibbison, two cod, 5lb 5oz; Ian Hall, two cod, 3lb 9½oz; Mick McMenamin, five flat fish, 3lb 6½oz; John Stephenson, one cod, 2lb ½oz; Steve Ayling, one cod, 1lb 12½oz.

The next match is Sunday, January 16, registration is at AFS Country Store, Alnwick, between 3.30pm and 4pm fishing between 4.30pm and 9.30pm.

OPEN fished on Sunday, January 9, 451 fished. Results: 1 Stephen Atkinson, Seaton Sluice, 8lb 13¼oz; 2 Matthew Holdroyd, Newbiggin, 7lb 8¾oz; 3 Anthony Whellans, Widdrington, 7lb 7¼oz.

Heaviest fish: Craig Ogilvie, North Berwick, 7lb 4¼oz; Stephen Atkinson, S/Sluice, 5lb 4¾oz; C France, Whitby, 5lb 4¾oz.

Heaviest flatfish: Dopper Ferry, Wallsend, 1lb 14¼oz; Martin Pygall, Seaton Sluice, 1lb 13¼oz; Dave Bullock, Ashington, 1lb 9¼oz.

Ladies: Norma Urwin, Amble, 4lb 4¼oz; Elaine Scott, Amble, 3lb 15oz; Pauline Ferr, Wallsend, 1lb 9½oz.

Juniors: Ross Taylor, Amble, 7lb ½oz; Jack Punton, Amble, 2lb 5¼oz; Liam Smith, Newbiggin, 2lb 4oz.
