ALNWICK missed out on promotion to North One East by just two points despite leading 16-3 at half-time in yesterday’s winner-takes-all play-off.
A surging second-half display by the Yorkshiremen consigned Alnwick to another season in Durham and Northumberland Division One.
The hosts had lead thanks to a try by Mather Nick Mather and three penalties from full-back James Bird, Brown replying with a penalty for the Yorkshire Division One side.
But after the break, Alnwick barely got out of their own half and did well to survive the onslaught until late in the match.
Spencer scored a converted try and Brown added a penalty, before Dyson powered over for the winning try 10 minutes from the end,
