Alnwick Garden all set for Punch Up

The Alnwick Garden will host a night of amateur boxing on Wednesday.

The Punch Up in the Pavilion event is Alnwick Amateur Boxing Club’s home show.

A number of fighters from the group, as well as boxers from around the region and Scotland and Wales, are set to battle it out in the ring.

The Garden will be packed with supporters and a special guest-list is headed by Her Grace The Duchess of Northumberland, as well as former IBF Cruiserweight world champion, Glenn McCrory.

Leader of Northumberland County Council, Grant Davey, and Deputy Leader Coun Dave Ledger are also scheduled to make an appearance.

Tournament organiser Gary Pattinson said: “This is going to be a really unique event that Alnwick has not seen before.”

The Pavilion will be hosting a light and water display from the fountains as a back-drop from the ring.

Doors open at 7pm, with boxing starting at 8pm. Tickets, £12 each, are available from the club’s gym at the town’s St Thomas’ Close workshops on weekdays, 6pm to 7pm.
