Following an away victory the preceding Saturday, Alnmouth were travelling a fourth time for this Wednesday night fixture but found the going much tougher against a joint table topping side they defeated and drew with last term - conceding four without reply.

Chris Chan was gifted the first on ten minutes as he exploited a defensive mix-up to find the net and the lead was doubled before the break when a ball over the top sprung the visitors offside trap as Ryan Ferrier ran clear to slot past exposed ‘keeper, Andrew Wilson.

To their credit, United had enjoyed their fair share of possession and could have threatened a different outcome, however, Jonny Quinn failed to convert from the penalty spot and they were rarely able to sufficiently menace the home defence while their high line left them susceptible to the Labour Clubs’s trademark lightning breaks and Alnmouth’s promising play was obviously not going to be enough when they leaked a third on 70 minutes as the top player on display, Chan finished again after Kane Chirnside squared.

A minute from time Ryan Storey ran half the length of the pitch before registering the fourth to complete the Seasiders misery.
