Alnmouth & Lesbury U18 (71-3) v Stocksfield U18 (68-7)
Having topped the northern group of the Lingarde Cup, Alnmouth & Lesbury U18s were drawn away to Stocksfield U18s in the semi-finals.
Upon winning the toss, Alnmouth asked to opposition to bat and they had early success when one of Stocksfield’s key players, the in-form Sam Mannion, was well caught by Cameron Batey off the bowling of Ed Brunton in only the second over.
This gave Alnmouth a great boost and they applied real pressure, which was capitalised on by Ritchie Elliot, who took two wickets in his first seven balls to reduce Stocksfield to 28-3 after nine overs. Elliot bowled a magnificent spell of five overs, taking three wickets for six runs, and Andy McDonnell took two for 18 as the home team’s inning fell away to 68 for 7 after their 20 overs.
The Alnmouth players put on an excellent display in the field, taking five good catches.
Alnmouth had little difficulty knocking off the runs. Callum Batey and Ed Gillon gave the inning a good start, putting on 29 for the first wicket and after both were dismissed, Jonny Ridley (20 not out) and Andy McDonnell (16) saw the Seasiders home with almost five overs remaining.
In the final, Alnmouth travel to Benwell Hill.
