Despite poor forecasts, the cricket fixture list was far more successful on Saturday than the previous weekend.

Alnmouth & Lesbury I didn’t fare much better in terms of result though as they fell to a third consecutive defeat in Northumberland and Tyneside Senior League, Division A1, away at Lanchester.

The home side batted first, posting 271-5, before the Seasiders could only make 209-8, losing by five wickets.

In Division A2, Alnwick ones recorded a draw against Greenside as only one innings was played – Alnwick scoring 170-7.

In Division B1, Alnmouth’s Seconds cruised to a nine-wicket victory at home against Lanchester II in a game reduced to 35 overs a side.

The visitors were bowled out for 130 with Peter Robinson taking four wickets for 11 before Ian Pearson’s 80 not out secured the win for the loss of just one wicket.

In Division B2, Alnwick II (266-3) beat Greenside II (152 ) by 114 runs, in large part thanks to Michael Brewis’ unbeaten 140.

In the Northumberland Cricket League, Premier Division, Tillside’s winning run continued with a five-wicket win over Bomarsund. Jack Bagness was bowled on 99.

In Division One, Warkworth were also victorious, by 50 runs over Monkseaton at the Castle Field.
