Action-packed bill for fight night

An all-action bill is being drawn up for North Northumberland Amateur Boxing Club’s annual fight night at the start of next month.

The feast of in-the-ring drama is planned for Thursday, April 3, at Alnwick’s Willowburn Sports and Leisure Centre.

Warriors will come from near and far, including a select side from Scotland.

Home-club boxers, including Callum Fenwick, David Anderson, Steven Muckle and John Douglas will all do battle on the night.

Former Northumberland Gazette Sports Personality of the Year, Cyrus Pattinson, from Birtley ABC, is on the card and is set to take on a member of Lochend ABC.

The evening will also feature an open class (no head guards) super-heavyweight title showdown.

A number of high-profile guests of honour have also been announced for the events, including English light-heavyweight champion Travis Dickinson and British cruiserweight champion Jon-Lewis Dickinson.

Former European and Commonwealth featherweight champion Billy Hardy, as well as Danny Boy Hughes, will also appear at the event. The fight night, which is usually staged in December, attracts a loud and passionate crowd.

Doors open at 7pm, with boxing starting at 8pm. A bar with be available on the night.

Tickets are £12 and are available from the sports centre or the club in advance, or on the door.
