AN un-seasonally green Old Links hosted the Club Championship last week and Ross Young stepped up for the Gold Championship Medal after two excellent rounds.

His gross 72 in the morning gave him a one-shot lead ahead of John Southward and Steve Quince and he then produced a level 70 in the afternoon to seal the deal. With no run on the fairways and some unusual pin positions, good scoring was not expected but the nett section featured some excellent returns.

Stef White was in red hot form to shoot a fine 130 total to win by four from Joe Henderson and six from Ross Young and John Stone.
Scores: Gross – R Young 72+70=142; J Southward 73+72=145; S Quince 73+73=146. Nett – S White 67+63=130; J Henderson 65+69=134; R Young 69+67=136; J Stone 67+69=136.
