A THRILLING day of Glendale League action saw 10 teams move closer to Glendale Cup glory.
With more twists and turns than a helter skelter, the deciding day of the Glendale Cup was packed with drama as junior sides booked their place in their respective Glendale League finals.

A dramatic last minute goal from Logan Sykes guided Lowick Rangers to the Glendale League U10 championship final.

Rangers faced derby-rivals Lowick Celtic, and with second-place Wooler drawing 3-3 with table-toppers Seahouses, Rangers needed maximum points.

But in what has been described as Celtic's best performance of the season, the basement side were 60-seconds away from denying Rangers a place in the final.

Sykes' strike though, a minute from time, saved Rangers' blushes and booked them a final clash against Seahouses.

There was also deciding-day drama in the U10 Premiership. Going into the final round of games, table-toppers Longhoughton Rams only needed a draw against Rothbury to seal a place in Saturday's final.

But the Rams were tamed by the Coquetdale club and a costly 5-3 defeat meant their final dreams evaporated after Longhoughton Panthers and Belford picked up maximum points.

The Panthers, who are now on course for an U10 Glendale double, stormed to a 5-0 win over Longhorsley while Belford grabbed their place in more controversial circumstances, picking up all three-points after their opponents – Berwick Rangers – didn't turn up.

The U12 league was also packed with entertainment.

The Premiership Cup final will be contested between league champions Longhoughton Hurricanes and Lowick United after a thrilling climax to their semi-final second leg clashes.

United reached the final thanks to a dramatic penalty shoot-out win over Alnmouth.

With the aggregate score 1-1 after a tight semi-final encounter, United won 4-2 from the spot.

Things were less close in the other semi-final though as Longhoughton Hurricanes breezed past Seahouses 8-2 on aggregate.

Having stormed to a 6-1 win in the first leg, the Longhoughton side triumphed with a second-leg 2-1 win.

In the Championship Cup, Longhoughton Spitfires were shot down by Lowick Rovers.

A 2-2 second leg draw was not enough for the Spitfires as they slipped to a 6-4 aggregate defeat.

Triumphant Rovers will lock horns with Bamburgh after they brushed past Berwick Park Rangers with a semi-final 4-1 aggregate score.

Wooler are on course for an U14 Glendale double after they won 4-1 in their second-leg Premiership match against league runners-up Longhoughton Lightnings. They will face Hedgeley in the final after they knocked-out AC Lowick in dramatic fashion.

A 1-0 second leg win helped Hedgeley level the aggregate score and, keeping their nerve from the spot, triumphed with a narrow 2-1 win.

The final for the U14 Championship Cup was already decided. Bamburgh lock horns with Seahouses on Saturday.
