HARDY & Greys is hosting the Wild Trout Trust (WTT) annual get-together next month at its Alnwick headquarters.
The event is open for everyone to attend. The aim of the weekend is to raise awareness of the work of the WTT and how it can assist clubs plan and deliver wild trout conservation projects.

On Saturday, April 12, there will be a series of presentat
ions on wild trout conservation, entomology and fishing, including a guided tour of the Hardy Museum with Jim Hardy.

There will be opportunities to have a go at identifying river flies using the latest state-of-the-art 'on screen' equipment, with a chance to learn fly-tying and fishing techniques from leading experts such as Charles Jardine, Stuart Crofts and Howard Croston.

During the day, managing director of Hardy & Greys Richard Sanderson will announce the recipient of the 2008 Hardy & Greys/WTT Conservation Bursary.

The casting pool will be in operation throughout the day, as will The Complete Angler Store.

All juniors (aged under 16 years) attending will be presented with a one-year complimentary membership of the WTT and a Hardy & Greys goodie bag.

The event is free to both members and non-members but booking is advisable. A buffet lunch will be provided for which there is a recommended donation of £5.

On Saturday evening there will be an informal fund-raising dinner at Alnwick Castle, tickets priced at £30. An auction will be held during the evening of various fishing related lots, including tackle donated by Hardy & Greys. The after-dinner speaker will be Dr John Smith who will give a highly amusing talk on The Medical Hazards of Fly Fishing.

On Sunday, April 13, dinner guests are being offered beats on a variety of local rivers, including the Tyne and Coquet. To book your place and attend the event, contact the Wild Trout Trust Office on 02392 570985.
