WINNER of the first round of the Alnwick Bowling Club TE Hall Sunday Triples were ex-president Michael Grant, vice-president David Wilkinson and club secretary Russ Dale (s).
In the final, they beat Margaret Gardiner, Lynn Cook and Ken Gardiner 8-2.

Beaten semi-finalists were Alan Tait, Bob Bingham, and Ronnie Givens (s), and Yvonne Turner, George Turner and Dougie Miller (s).
There was a mixed result to the very early start to the Northumberland County Bowling Association Leagues for Alnwick.

In the Nines League they beat Heaton Victoria by 46 shots to 45, winning the four and triples but losing out in the pairs.

In the two-bowl triples Clegg Cup, an under-strength Alnwick struggled against a strong St George's team from Morpeth, winning only one of the four matches and going down by 38 shots to 85.

In the first friendly of the season, Alnwick were victors over Amble, taking three of the four rinks and winning by 73 shots to 50.

In a fixed jack competition organised by the club, Ivy France was the winner.
