Pin Point Recruitment NABC League, Under 11, Division Five (Sunday,
March 2).
RANGERS made the long trip to Prudhoe this weekend to take on bottom club Prudhoe Yellows and a strong westerly wind was set to make playing difficult.

The away side started well with Ali Batey's fierce cross needing only a touch for a goal. But
the keeper cleared for a corner which was put just wide by Phil Winkler, who had another shot which again was inches wide only a minute later.

The opener came on nine minutes with Rangers winning a corner from the right, Dom Schiavetta whipping in the set piece and Ryan Kelly beat all to coolly slot home.

Ali Batey caused the home side all sorts of problems with his quick runs and his shot on 16 minutes was well-saved by the keeper.

The resulting kick into the wind from the keeper didn't go as far as he'd hoped and Ali intercepted the ball before releasing Dominic whose shot whistled wide.

The second came after Dom was brought down on the right touchline, 20 yards out. His fierce shot was perfectly placed to sail above the defence and past the keeper.

The score remained so until half-time and the restart. Rangers actually improved in the second half. In the first, they had been guilty of over-confidence and had at times pushed too deep, all hopeful of getting on the scoresheet.

The second half saw them revert to their better passing game as they faced the wind. Jordan Beattie created the first chance of the half when his run down the left saw him pass to Batey, whose snap-shot went just wide.

The third goal came on 37 minutes when a shot from Schiavetta was parried by the keeper to Batey. His shot again spilled loose and Matthew Hunter smashed the ball home.

On 46 minutes, Alex Robson's long-range shot from a Prudhoe clearance was just wide and minutes later Ali Batey saw his great turn and shot well saved.

The fourth soon followed when a Prudhoe clearance bounced between the keeper and Dominic, who was quickest to the ball to confidently lob the Prudhoe stopper.

Ali finally got his goal virtually from the restart when Rangers won the ball and a cross from Beattie was poorly cleared and Ali was there to follow up with a shot from close-range for the fifth.

The sixth and final goal came on 55 minutes when defender Ben Courty collected the ball on the half-way line and ran through the Yellow's defence like a steamroller before driving the ball back across the keeper for the goal.
