AMBLE FC Reserves gained automatic promotion to the top tier of the Morpeth Sunday League courtesy of a five-goal haul against visitors Bedlington Northumberland Arms.
The result endorsed manager Ryan Jobson's philosophy of playing attacking and
entertaining football and places his team at the top of Division Two with one game remaining.
"I'm delighted for my players who have stuck together for the past four years since we joined Morpeth Sunday League Division Four. We've developed these youngsters as a team and have now earned our second successive promotion," he beamed.
"Our young players have been outstanding for the past couple of years and have learnt to adapt to the demands of senior football.
"However, I'm grateful for the guidance and experience of Karl Scott, Barry Paton and my brother Shaun, who have made a significant on and off-field contribution to the development of this team," he said.
Striker Wyn Fremlin returned from injury to partner Scott Sherrington in attack and the game had barely started when the Seasiders scored the opening goal.
Kevin Bell outpaced the visitors' defence and slid a pass for Carl Sayer to score after 14 seconds.
The home side maintained the pressure and scored a second goal after seven minutes.
Ethan Miller chased down an Alex Potts throw into the visitors' box, then nipped the ball past visiting keeper Darren Percy.
The visitors were unable to contain the pace and movement of Fremlin and Sherrington and both strikers came close with outstanding efforts.
The Seasiders' blistering opening spell continued with Sherrington outpacing the defence before sliding the ball past Percy for Amble's third goal after 16 minutes.
Amble pressed forward and scored a fourth goal when Andy Timson played Kevin Bell through to 'nutmeg' the keeper in the 24th minute.
Timson almost scored with another long-range wonder strike but was denied by a finger-tip save from Percy.
Brilliant one-touch passing resulted in Fremlin scoring with a thunderous 25-yard strike but his effort was ruled offside by the referee.
The second-half didn't match up to the opening period but Amble scored a fifth goal after 49 minutes when Timson scored with a 50 yard free-kick. The Seasiders maintained pressure and had several opportunities to extend the lead through Fremlin, Sherrington, Miller and Kevin Bell.
The home side brought on Cory Robertson, John Robson and Craig Keilty after the hour and to their credit the visitors battled all the way to end of the match. Amble's defence of Timson, Barry Paton, Michael Straker and Alex Potts ensured that keeper David Hansen was rarely troubled as the homeside saw out the game with another clean-sheet.
