STUDENTS from Alnwick's Directional Fighting Method Club threw themselves a hundred per cent into their examinations on takedowns.
Six of the club's students took part in the belt-grading test at St Michael's Church Hall, Canongate.Five were trying to pass their grade in evasion, takedowns, throws and joint locking, while one student took his test in evasion, distractions, unbalancing and wrist, and arm locking.
DFM Instructor Phil Doherty said: "We were really impressed how good the students were.
"Now they have passed the exam the students are looking forward to getting stuck in to learning the hanbo, which is a staff the size of a walking stick, and learning the basics of Kali double stick methods."
The system is taught every Friday at St Michael's hall, from 7.15pm, and Wednesday at Willowburn Sports Centre, both Alnwick.
