SOME of the region's top instructors are coming to the Willowburn Sports Centre for an open martial arts seminar.
It is hosted by the Directional Fighting Method, Alnwick club, and is being held on Sunday, October 9.
The aim of the workshop is to bring martial artists of different styles, clubs and associations together in friendship.
DFM instructor Phil Doh
erty said: "This seminar is open to any martial artist who wants to sample other styles and methods and meet other open-minded martial artists.
"What's great about these seminars is not just that they bring people together but also they show the common ground that all martial arts share regardless of style of system.
"They also, however, allow participants to learn new principles and techniques which they can add or change to fit their own art. "
Systems that will be taught include directional fighting method tai-jutsu, jui-jutsu, kenjutsu, Tibetan ghost hand and wado ryu karate.
The course starts at 9am and costs £10 per participant. This should be paid on the day.
Those attending should wear a martial arts uniform or loose sports clothing, and bring a pack lunch and water.
For further information telephone Phil Doherty on 0191 4204987, or Darren Currah on 07967 724064. DFM Martial Arts is a member of AMA, EKGB, WAKO, WUKO.
