NACYP U12s CUP, ROUND ONE
AMBLE soared into the second round of the cup after a storming start in their tie against Blakelaw Eagles on Sunday.

Their first attack within the first minute produced a goal. A James Oliver throw found Max Anderson who used his strength to out-m
uscle the defender to finish from inside the box.

Minutes later, they added a second goal when Andy Flanighan won the ball from a tackle.

He played it through to Callum Fenwick who went on to score, finishing well from the right.

James Oliver played through another ball this time to James Aston, who let it run into the box and put the ball to the keeper's left side with his first touch, for a comfortable 3-0 lead.

Amble could have increased their lead further with a James Oliver corner going short to Jason Imeson. He crossed into the box for Josh Purvis to nudge a free header over the bar.

James Aston was involved again with his pass to Max Anderson who made their keeper work with another save to deny him his second goal. Brad Little's first touch beat the defender and he went on to hit a shot, which just went wide of the upright.

Matty Stephenson cut out another ball through the middle, having the composure to take his time then playing the ball out wide to Andy Flanighan, who started another attack down the right and crossed into the box.

The Eagles had a rare chance in the first half from the edge of the box.

Cameron Roper pulled off a good save, tipping the ball over the bar.

Nathan Potts, who worked hard throughout the game, won the ball in midfield and played a good pass to Josh Purvis on the right to cross into the box for their defender to clear.

Amble's fourth goal came from a poor goal-kick. James Aston was first to the ball – he played in Callum Fenwick to score goal number four and his second of the day.

Amble's best passing move of the match involved Imeson, Anderson, Little, then Aston playing the ball into Fenwick, who just fired wide.

Andy Flanighan played a back-pass to Cameron Roper who kept possession, passed out wide to Josh Purvis, with a good run down the right and a fine ball into the box for Max Anderson and James Aston to be denied with a timely interception from their defender.

James Oliver turned out of defence, which started a move involving Anderson and Little, with Josh Purvis firing wide of the target.

Jason Imeson fulfilled his defensive duties once again to get a great tackle in to deny their forwards.

The second half was much the same with chances being made on a regular basis.

Jason Imeson went through the middle with a left-foot shot but their keeper saved. Jamie Stanford and Josh Purvis played a good one-two, then a Nathan Potts cross into the box for a Max Anderson strike on goal produced another save from the keeper.

Josh Purvis was unlucky not to get the goal he deserved from a header, which hit the post.
