Sportsworld North Northumberland League, Division One (Saturday, March 1).
AMBLE had the task of facing the league leaders who kindly reversed the fixture to allow the match to be played at Stobswood Welfare Park.

The windy conditions played havoc throughout the game but both teams managed to play attractive football as
well as providing supporters with an entertaining and good-spirited fixture.

The visitors took the lead in the opening minute playing with the prevailing wind when Chris Graham latched on to defensive indecision to score from inside the box.

The home side battled back and held out for another 10 minutes until striker Michael Freathy scored with a well-taken effort.

Amble were unable to compete against the visitors' dominant midfield of Graham and David Farrell, with brothers Ross and Wayne Gair being instrumental in opening up the home defence.

The visitors extended the lead after 25 minutes with Freathy being unmarked to score from close-range.

Amble managed to pull a goal back on the half-hour with a spectacular individual effort from Andy Timson.

The striker dribbled from his own penalty area to the edge of the opposition box to score with a powerful bottom-corner shot past Stobswood keeper Paul Nisbet.

Amble's renaissance was short-lived as Freathy notched a 35th minute hat-trick with another calm finish from six-yards.

The second half allowed a degree of respite for a young Amble side with midfielders Declan Armstrong and debutante Vic Bedakiran pressing forward.

However, the visitors capitalised on a quick break with David Curtis scoring a fifth goal for Stobswood. Amble keeper Adam Capper saved a penalty before Freathy grabbed his fourth goal and the visitors' sixth with another calm finish.
