SUNDERLAND Ladies star Lucy Bronze has praised England U17 coach Lois Fidler after the team's World Cup quarter-final win over Japan in New Zealand.
England Women beat Japan 5-4 on penalties in their last eight clash on Sunday after drawing 2-2 after extra-time, to book a place in the semi-final.

Lucy. who lives in Alnwick, played a crucial part in England's triumph, blunting a Japan attack which had scored 17 goals in three matches.

Bronze's tireless and tenacious marking of Mana Iwabuchi proved crucial in preventing the kind of defeats that had befallen USA, France and Paraguay.
But modest Lucy praised her coach.

She told FIFA.com: "It was all down to the coaching really

"I knew Iwabuchi was outstanding but I'd been shown inside-out how she plays, so I knew exactly how to approach the job.

"Really, I think the key for us is that we always stick together, no matter what."

Lucy, along with other Alnwick and England U17 starlet Lucy Staniforth are playing their semi-final against Korea DPR tomorrow morning (Thursday) at 3am English time.
