ON Sunday, November 1, Alnwick Sea Angling Club fished their fifth winter league competition.

Conditions were good with a rough, southerly sea and expectations were high with good numbers of cod being caught from all around the region.
The winner of the match was Steve Ayling, with a excellent catch of nine codling and two coal fish for a total weight of 21lb 1oz. Second was Anthony Gibbison with another good bag of eight codling for 12lb ½oz. Third was Andrew Stanton with five cod for 9lb 6oz.

Steve Scott had the heaviest fish with a nice cod of 5lb 3½oz.
