Alnwick Sea Angling Club

THE club fished their third winter league competition on Sunday.

Sea conditions had been good on the Friday before the match and reports of good catches from most marks had hopes high. But conditions changed and the match was fished in a calm flat sea, producing varying results with some anglers managing to find pockets of fish.

Winner of the match was Andrew Stanton with five cod and a flounder for a total weight of 8lb 14½oz. Heaviest fish went to Steve Ayling with a fine Wrasse of 3lb 2oz.

Other anglers weighting in and full results were: Andrew Stanton, five cod, one flounder, 8lb 14½oz; Anthony Gibbison, seven cod, 8lb 14oz; Steve Ayling, one wrasse, 3lb 2oz; Mick McMenamin, one cod, 3lb ½oz; Paul Buddles, 1 cod, 1 flounder, 2lb 2½oz; Ian Hall, 1 cod, 1lb 1oz; Steve McKee, one cod, 1lb; William Morton, one flounder 15oz.
