A NORTH Northumberland race committee has announced its charity for the 2012 race.
The Druridge Bay 10K committee are pleased to reveal that the charity will be HospiceCare North Northumberland – the main provider of palliative care throughout the race.
Druridge Bay 10K chairman, Stan Hurst, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting such a worthy charity, right on our doorstep.
“I have no doubt that the community will once again get behind the Druridge Bay 10K and help us raise the vital funds needed to help those living with life-limiting illness and supporting their familes and carers.
“In the past five years, our participants have raised in excess of £100,000 and we are eager to carry on their good work with this, our sixth 10K race.”
Julie Mawer, community fund-raiser for HospiceCare North Northumberland, said: ‘HospiceCare North Northumberland is over the moon to be chosen as next year’s charity for the Duridge Bay 10K fun run.
“We tried last year but were unsuccessful, so we are really honored to be this year’s charity and are looking forward to be working with this wonderful team.”
“So anyone who enjoys fun, fresh air or a challenge come and join us and help support a local charity.”
