AT the N2N Young Athletes final, on Sunday at Monkton Stadium, the Alnwick Harriers and Blyth RC alliance pulled out all of the stops to accumulate their highest match score to date, replicating their previous third-place finishes.
On the track, Kieran Foy had an easy win in the 80m hurdles event and Eliza Sandford took second in her 70m hurdle event.

Also competing in the 75m hurdles and in the same heat, only 0.5 second separated Alnwick's Myles Foggon and George Skirrow,
as they edged out their competitors to take second and third places respectively.

Sprinter Georgia Jobes remained focused, to run technically her best 100m race of the season, equalling her personal-best time to finish second.

Predictably, Chris Sweeny took an effortless victory in the U13s 800m and Rachael Cook earned much respect as she gained maximum points in her 800m B-event.

Drama reigned in the U15 girls 1500m race as Bethany Barker fell with one and a half laps still to go. All credit to Bethany, though, for a gutsy performance as she picked herself up to incredibly limp home in second place. U13 Charlotte Ramsey won the 1200m for Blyth.

Once more, Alnwick had a strong showing in the field events.

Joseph Mallen finished second in the high jump and went on to take a further second place in the long jump. Making her debut for Alnwick, U13 Molly Hinsley, favouring the scissor technique, won her high-jump event. After two no jumps, triple jumper Matt Hardy erred on the side of caution for his third and final attempt and although a short jump by his standards, his 11.35m was sufficient to take him comfortably into first place. In the throws, Keiran Foy smashed his previous record in the U15 shot putt to take second place, with a throw of 7.80m; Blyth's Craig Charlton won the shot putt B-event. Bobby Hardy's recent hammer training paid off, as he threw a massive pb to take second place in the event. Matthew Foggon took another second place for Alnwick in the discus 'B' event.

Coach Sue Skirrow said "Competing against the bigger city clubs in this year's Young Athletes League has been a good experience for Alnwick Harriers' athletes.
