Thrills and spills at Ratcheugh-
VIDEO: Action from RatcheughA crew was called out later in the afternoon after a startled horse reared up in the paddock and unseated rider Luke Morgan. The horse then rolled back onto Mr Morgan. Organisers feared he was seriously hurt and he was taken by ambulance to Wansbeck General Hospital.
But he was discharged later that evening with just bruising. The incident delayed proceedings for safety reasons.
Ashtonmore then took a bad tumble in race three.
However clerk of the course John Taylor said the incidents did not detract from a good day's racing.
Mr Taylor said: "We were worried about Luke Morgan – his back and his pelvis – but thankfully he is ok.
"Incidents like that can happen, you're dealing with horses which weigh half a ton. It was a good day's racing in spite of the weather. It did look dreadful early on but it improved and the going was good."
Racing was only given the go-ahead at 10am following overnight snow.
