ALNWICK Town A have leapt to the top of the table in the Alnwick Premier Darts League.
The early pace setters made it two wins out of two in the town's newly-formed league.

The St James' Park team climbed to the league summit with a 7-0 triumph over the winless Queen Head.

In the battle of the golf clubs, Alnmouth Village teed up success with a 7-0 win over Alnwick Golf Club to go second in the league.

But things were closer in Alnwick Arms' clash with the John Bull and the Market Tavern's match against the Fleece Inn.

Both the Arms and the Tavern recorded 4-3 wins; the Arms' encounter with the John Bull decided by the last leg of the night.

It was a special evening for P Robinson of the Farriers who hit his first 180.

It was the league's second maximum score and helped the Shilbottle pub guide past Football Club B 5-2.

The league continues tomorrow and week three sees a top-of-the-table clash between Alnmouth Village and Alnwick Town A. Elsewhere the Fleece face Alnwick Golf Club while the John Bull lock horns with Market Tavern. Football Club B will look to score their second win of the season against Alnwick Arms and the Queen's Head face Farriers.
