A HUGE family festival of sport is taking place on Saturday at a Northumberland beauty spot – and you can take part.
Get Active Day, a free event at Druridge Bay Country Park, is being held to encourage people of all ages to get out and get active in the great outdoors.
The sports feast, organised by Northumberland Sport, is part of Get Active Northumberland – a campaign aimed at encouraging people across the county to be active and to highlight the amazing sporting opportunities Northumberland has to offer.
On the day, people can try their hand at a range of activities including canoeing, tennis and climbing.
Frisbee golf is also on the agenda – a fun game where players must aim to get their frisbee to land in the nets – while there will be a cycle challenge course designed by British cycling to test manoeuvring skills (bicycles will be provided).
Participants can also put their fitness and stamina to the test by using running and cycle machines in a fun mini triathlon challenge.
Doug Lowery, Executive Director of Northumberland Sport, said: "During these tight financial times, we hope that the public will welcome the opportunity for a free afternoon of fun and entertainment.
"It doesn't matter whether you come with friends, family or just by yourself , there will be plenty of activities on the go to ensure everyone has an enjoyable time.
"Through this event we hope to show the public some fun ways of keeping active and to remind them of the wide range of sport and recreational opportunities we have right here on our doorstep in Northumberland. "
But the action doesn't stop there.
Visitors to the park will be able to watch an open water swimming competition in Ladyburn Lake on the same day.
And a weekend of Druridge Bay sport will culminate with the prestigious British Triathlon Championships, on Sunday, featuring top athletes from around the country.
Saturday's Get Active Day will run from noon until 5pm.
