SLIDESHOW of the 10KRunners from as far afield as Swindon, Milton Keynes and even Western Australia competed in the second annual run, organised by Red Row Sports Club.
Delighted event organiser Ade Barrass said: "The turnout was fantastic.
"We had just over 400 runners take part, 150 more entrants than last year's inaugural run for Asthma Research UK.
"We had runners from all over the country and someone from Australia signed up for the race on the day, which was the icing on the cake for me."
He added: "The weather was kind, things went smoothly and it was an absolute success."
Teenage ace Jordan Scott, 16, won the race while Laura Weightman, also 16, was the first woman home.
Meanwhile, dozens of competitors put the 'F' into fun by completing the course – set within the boundaries of the country park lakes and incorporating a panoramic section of Druridge Bay's famous shoreline – in fancy dress.
Ade said: "There were some really good costumes. I saw at least two Elvises, there was a Superman, Batman and a Lion from the Wizard of Oz to name but a few."
Organisers are also pleased that the race has put them on the right track to raise a substantial sum for the Heart Foundation.
Ade said: "At the end of the day we are providing an event for everybody to enjoy and raising money for the charity.
"We have got over £7,500 so far in entry fees and we are hoping to raise around £10,000 or £11,000 all together, which will go a long way towards buying a piece of cardiac equipment at Wansbeck Hospital."
