The Alnwick Castle 10k run has been postponed because of heavy rain.
The event, which was due to take place tomorrow (Sunday, September 7), was given the red-light at 11am on Saturday morning.
The run, which would took participants through Hulne Park, was cancelled after the River Aln had flooded its banks, swamping the path beside it.
It is believed to be the first Cancer research 10k race to be cancelled because of flooding.
The news will come as a blow to the 940 runners due to put their best foot forward for chairty.
Andy Wilson, event organiser said: "It has been a complete disaster and I am disappointed for all the people who were going to run."
But plans have been put forward to reschedule the run, the fourth Cancer Research 10k event in Alnwick.
Andy said: "We have postponed the run but are hoping to hold it at the back end of October. We are hoping we can get a date sorted out and hold it another day."
Runners will be informed if a new date is booked.
