FIGHT fans are in for a treat as a showcase of boxing hits the Alnwick stage tonight.
North Northumberland Amateur Boxing Club presents its Fight Night at The Lion's Den to be held at Willowburn Sports Centre.

And to celebrate the return of boxing in Alnwick, a wealth of talent from the club will be taking to the ring, as well as a select team from Scotland and fighters from across the region.

During the night, middleweight North East Champion Ian Turnbull will battle against Birtley's Robert Ismay, while Ashington's Michael Dixon will take on a boxer from Scotland.

There will also be a top welterweight clash between Joe Whitfield and Danny Oldham and Leon Murphy will also lock horns in the ring.

Tonight's spectacle will also boast an appearance from Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries.

The light heavyweight boxer, from Sunderland, will be guest of honour at the event, as will former Hylton Castle fighter Danny Hughes.

Coach Keith MacDonald said: "It is quite a few years since there has been a show in Alnwick – the last one was about 15 years ago.

"This is a big thing for the town and there is quite a bill.

"There will be lots of boxers from north Northumberland and it promises to be a great showcase of boxing."

Tickets, £10, are still available and can be purchased by calling Willowburn Sports Centre on 01665 605030 or on the door tonight. Doors open from 7pm.
