A VERY busy couple of months of competition swimming for the Alnwick Dolphins have reaped rewards.
They have reached the finals of the northern area BAGCAT championships in Middlesbrough and the N and D championships at Darlington.

On the way to those finals, the swimmers have excelled in their chosen event and attained a massive 62 personal be
st times.

Star of the show was Ben Gothorp who added to his already impressive medal haul by winning a place on the rostrum in no fewer than five events, winning one, accompanied with two silvers and two bronzes. In the events he swam, Ben managed to set an incredible 31pbs.

Also making it to the finals were George Skirrow, Sophie Hastings, Adam Shafiq, Martha Gothorp and Lauren Aisbitt.

Club coaches congratulated the other swimmers who swam beyond themselves and shared out the other pbs.

The junior section of the Dolphins have also been in action, competing in the Diddy League as well as the Duns Gala just across the border into Scotland.

The Duns Gala was a success in terms of medals and pbs, with a few members of the team winning more than one medal in their chosen events, notably Nicholas Goulding and Owen Green.

This event also provides novice competitors with a taste of what competitions are all about.

In the Diddy league, the Dolphins have not been so fortunate and it looks as though, despite the dedication of the swimmers, coaches and parents that they will be stepping down a division, following two successive promotions.

However, that does not detract from the efforts shown by everyone – it is a tall order for Alnwick to compete against cities and towns the size of Newcastle, Middlesbrough and Hartlepool.
