Lesbury Bowling Club Open Fours
LESBURY played host to their annual Open Fours Competition on Sunday, with a good representation of clubs from over the county.

In near-perfect conditions, the morning was devoted to the round robin part of the competition and there was some excellent bowling produced.

The finalists were not decided until the afternoon session when a count-back on shots was required due to teams tying on points.

Unfortunately, the home club were not involved in the final this year – the finalists coming from Backworth and Amble.

After an absorbing final, which was regrettably played in the only shower of the day, the Amble rink of K Stewart, E Murray, J Giles and T Murray (s) were the winners, beating W Kynoch, E Goldsmith, P Varty and R Goldsmith (s) from Backworth.

Len Ord, president of Lesbury, thanked everyone for attending and also thanked sponsors Alistair Turner Funeral Directors for their continued support of the event and hoped it would continue for many years to come.
