A SHOWCASE of amateur boxing will hit the right note with fight fans.
North Northumberland Amateur Boxing Club presents its Fight Night at The Lion's Den, to be held at Willowburn Sports Centre.

It is the first time in more than a decade that coach Keith MacDonald has hosted a show in Alnwick.

A wealth of talent from the club, including middleweight North East Champion Ian Turnbull, and a select team from Scotland, will feature in bouts throughout the night.

The spectacle will also boast an appearance from Olympic bronze medallist Tony Jeffries.

Light heavyweight Jeffries, the first boxer from Tyne and Wear to qualify for an Olympic Games and the first Olympic medallist from Sunderland, will be guest of honour at the event.

Keith said: "It is quite a few years since there has been a show in Alnwick. The last one must have been about 15 years ago at the Town Hall.

"So this event is a big thing for the town and there will be lots of boxers from the Alnwick area all representing north Northumberland and the new club flag.

"It promises to be a good showcase of boxing."

The fight night will also hold an auction or a raffle to help raise a fistful of dollars for club funds.

On offer will be a signed and framed picture of Ricky Hatton when he won the world title.

The showcase takes place on Thursday, December 4.

Tickets are £10 and are available from the leisure complex. Contact 01665 605030.

Doors open from 7pm.
